The Ice Cream Truck

The kids and I were playing outside Saturday evening while Kevin was mowing the yard. Suddenly I heard the Kona Ice truck's music and went into a bit of a panic. My wallet was inside, the front door was locked, and the kids were in the front yard. I told them to stay put while I dashed around to the back of the house, grabbed my money, and ran out the front door. I felt like a kid again myself - the ice cream truck was here! Is it me, or does anyone else remember that feeling of excitement when the ice cream truck paid your street a visit? I was so excited to share that with my kids.

I told the kids the truck had ice cream in it and they gave me these looks like "you've got to be kidding me. This is so cool". So they got the ice, and the truck had the flavors on the side so the kids applied as much as they wanted. This was a poor design decision in my opinion, seeing as my children made soup out of their Kona Ice, but they loved it.
They ran around back to show Kevin their ice cream, screaming the whole way. As we sat on the deck eating (I was monitoring the dripping but wasn't very successful - sure hope Tide gets purple Kona Ice juice out) Warner says "I so happy the ice cream truck came to our house. Next time, I want you and Daddy to get ice cream". Probably so we won't eat any of his. Smart kid.

I can relate. I love the Kona truck as much as the kids do. I miss hearing the tune "Don't worry be happy". Sure seems like summer. :)
