Biking to the Park

Winter's been fun and all, but it's March. I'm ready for spring. I am completely over the cold weather, cloudy days, and most of all being stuck inside. Today was still cold, but thankfully the sun was shining, so we layered up and headed out. There is a park at the back of our (very large) neighborhood and I've wondered for a while now if the kids could make there and back on their bikes. It's almost 3 miles round trip and although I knew Warner could do it, I wasn't sure about Maren. We decided to go for it.
The kids were troopers. Like I said, I knew it would be easy for Warner (he's awesome on his bike. Again, this is my blog, so I can say that). But Maren with her training wheels and significantly shorter legs had to put a lot of effort into the trip - especially the hills. The funniest part was hearing her say "it's going to be a loooong way back!" all the way there. I had to give her a few pushes but for the most part, she did it all by herself.

The kids played and climbed and managed to find a few things to argue about at the park. After about an hour, we turned around and went home. The way back was a bit harder but you should have seen the looks on their faces when we were back in our driveway.
Pretty proud of their accomplishments.
I know it wasn't the Tour de France, but I'm proud of my little bike riders. And can't wait for warmer weather.
