Happy 4th Birthday, Warner!

Warner turned four this past week. I feel like he's been this age for a while though, because in my head I think of my kids being two years apart in age. So when Maren turned two this summer, I started thinking Warner was four. Weird, I know. But perhaps this will help me not freak out when we celebrate another year of his life each October. He's growing up so fast.On Wednesday the 19th, we celebrated at home as a family. Warner chose the entire meal: Cars macaroni and cheese, carrots with dip, broccoli, grapes, and pineapple. Apparently meat is not a favorite food of Warner's.He requested chocolate chip cookies for dessert, but I was a little concerned about getting four candles in a cookie. And having four candles for my son to blow out was important to me. So we compromised with a cookie cake. Everyone was happy.Yesterday was the big party for family, with the Cars theme that Warner wanted so badly. He was so excited for his party. Unfortunately he wasn't able to enjoy it much because he was sick. Before church and all morning he told us his belly hurt. We didn't think much of it until later that afternoon when he started running a fever and didn't want to do anything but lie on the couch.Despite feeling awful, Warner made it through the party. He even blew out another candle while we sang happy birthday to him.For the Cars theme, I made Lightning McQueen cupcakes and stop light scotcheroos. It would be a stretch to say the cupcakes looked exactly like Lightning, but most everyone figured it out. These are race car apples with grapes for wheels. Ha!As soon as his guests left, Warner collapsed on the couch and closed his eyes. Poor guy. About twenty minutes later he got sick. Here's to hoping his guests didn't leave with his stomach virus as a party favor.

Happy birthday, little man. We love you!
