We traveled a few miles down the road (a benefit of living in N. KY I suppose) to Kinman Farms Saturday to fulfill my need for an annual visit to a pumpkin patch. Heaven forbid we buy pumpkins at Kroger. It just isn't festive enough for me.

We've been to Kinman before but this was my favorite visit yet. After visiting the animals at the petting zoo, we took a hayride to the back part of the farm to pick our pumpkins.

The kids chose big pumpkins for themselves and small ones for Kevin and me. Go figure. After choosing the perfect pumpkins, we headed over to the "kiddie express". It was supposed to be a train ride through a corn maze but they actually just made a train out of a Gator pulling a few trailers made to look like train cars. I wasn't very impressed with their creativity for this so-called train, but the kids enjoyed it. And really, that's all that matters, right?

After our "train" ride, the kids played on the swing sets and then we ate our picnic lunch. They have a big shelter area that also sells concessions, so we bought s'more kits to roast at their bonfire. The kids were definitely fans.

I believe this is the "Mom, will you please stop waving that camera in front of us?" pose.

On the way out Warner helped me choose some mums and larger pumpkins for our front porch. There's something about mums on a front porch in the fall that puts a smile on my face.

Well, mums and visits to pumpkin patches both make me smile. Yay for fall!
